New Thai Mexican Restaurant in Hua Hin off Soi 94

I love Mexican dishes and when I saw a sign advertising a new Mexican restaurant off of Soi 94 I made a mental note to make sure to give it try.

Well as we do sometimes when we are out viewing many properties with customers we take a break to re-charge as visiting up to 5 to 7 of them takes energy, esp. with the hot season upon us and I suggested we try it.

It was a hit! The menu offers 6 Mexican dishes and everything we ordered was fresh, attractively prepared, delicious and served in a timely manner with friendly service.

If you drive up Soi 94 and make a left just after the Fitness Center and drive down about 100m you will see this little treasure on the left hand side across from Baan Jenny. The name of the Soi is Chriean Pattana, and they are open from 8am to 10pm. If you need directions call 085-976-3845.

Beach Cafe Restaurant

Located in the middle Hua Hin's main beach, this delightful restaurant (which will also cater for BBQ's for up to eight people) prides itself on its impeccable service and down to earth prices. Tables directly on the beach or on the elevated garden setting can be booked when making a reservation and a recommended time to arrive is just before sunset.

The seafood menu is irriestible. Because of the difficult of vehicular access, the owners have laid on a golf cart shuttle service available from junction of Petchkasem Road and Soi 75/1 from 6 p.m.

These are just three of the many excellent restaurants to be found in Hua Hin in Thailand where fine dining is never difficult. La Grappa is the most central and can be walked to from all areas of the town including the bus-stop if one is coming from out-of-town.

Choosing where to eat in Thailand has never been easy. Thai food takes many forms and every Thai will have a favourite restaurants where the noodles, or the fish, or the soup is cooked just to his/her liking. Now the proliferation of European restaurants (which all serve Thai food as well) is making the choice more difficult, but there are some that stand head and shoulders above the rest.

Hua Hin

Hua Hin and the neighbouring town of Cha-am are best described as small sleepy seaside resort towns. They are to Bangkok what Brighton is to London or the Hamptons are to New York. Initially for the rich and famous, the area flourished with the expansion of the railways giving access to the masses. Being only 2 to 3 hours drive down the Gulf of Thailand, the towns offer a close retreat of sharp contrast to the hustle of Thailand's capital and as such their personalities change as the hordes arrive at weekends with many hotels being full. Hua Hin has the added credibility of being the favoured resort of the Thai royal family; indeed the current king spends much of his time in residence there.

The skyline of the coast has been somewhat blighted by the indiscriminate building of high-rise condominiums in the building boom of the early 1990s. Predominant between Cha-am and Hua Hin, these holiday homes for the city folk are complete eyesores on what could be an attractive coastline. The subsequent Asian financial crisis of the late 1990s has led many to become run down and quite unattractive.

More recently the area has opened up beyond the local market to an evolving international audience. Favoured by cheap package tours, especially from Europe and in particular Scandinavia, it is not uncommon to see coach loads pouring into hotels to escape the European winter. Cha-am is aimed particularly at the cheap end of the market whilst Hua Hin, with a wider range of hotels and spas, caters for all markets. Increasingly more sophisticated independent travellers are also seeing Hua Hin as an acceptable escape especially during the peak seasons of Christmas, Chinese New Year and Easter - to cater for this market international chains are opening up new top end quality resorts.

Introduction to Hua Hin

Four hours by bus from Bangkok, Hua Hin is a lively, breezy town with a long white-sand beach. Tourists can take pony rides, and Wat Khao Takiap rewards those who walk there with a nice sea view. A few catamaran, parasailing and jet ski operators work off Hua Hin beach, but it is mostly peaceful.

The royal beach of Hua Hin
Hua Hin, Prachuap Khiri Khan's first and most famous beach town (195 km from Bangkok), holds variable names from the royal beach town and the romantic getaway to the town of chic boutique resorts. Even though Hua Hin is the most popular beach in the province, its neighbouring beaches such as Naresuan beach, Had Nom Sao and Pranburi have gained recognition, if not by international travelers, from local tourists and expatriates. However, sea, sun and sand are not the only attractions in this province. Prachuap Khiri Khan boosts lush green national parks and a scenic former royal beachside mansion.

It offers a wide range of beachfront accommodation, good golfing, and seafood galore. Close to Bangkok, Hua Hin is becoming increasingly popular, although it has all but escaped the gaudy excesses of Pattaya and Patong. The town boasts accommodation to suit all budgets, with a good selection of resorts spread along its white sandy beach. Golfers can enjoy the 72-par Royal Hua Hin Golf Course for a reasonable non-member's fee.

The unspoiled side of Hua Hin at Suan Son Pradiphat Beach
If you are seeking a serene beach near Hua Hin, Suan Son Pradiphat Beach is probably a good place to go. This 2.8 kilometre long beach is located next to Hua Hin beach but divided by Takiap Hill. The atmosphere of Suan Son Pradiphat Beach is similar to Hua Hin yet quieter. The beach is shady with a line of pine trees stretching a long curved bay while the water is shallow ' suitable for swimming. The area belongs to the navy but is open to public.

Hua Hin is the oldest and most traditional Thai holiday resort.

It combines the convenience of a modern holiday destination with the fascinating charm of a still active fishing port.

In the contrary of the main destinations in Thailand, Hua Hin is very popular with domestic Thai tourists and therefore has kept a very strong local feel to it, avoiding the over-commercialization.

Aside of its extensive 5 mile long beach, Hua Hin provides the highest density of world class golf course anywhere in Thailand, although still among the better kept secrets as virtually undiscovered as an international Golf destination. Green-fees and other costs are currently among the lowest in the world while course maintenance and services are superb. A delight for any golfing enthusiast.

Nowadays Hua Hin, rich with the legend, history and beautiful scenery, is still an exquisite and peaceful holiday venue and full of natural beauty, for anyone to discover or enjoy over and over again.
